Every Snowy River Caravan body is built on a 4” DuraGal steel box section chassis with a 6” A-Frame. Our manufacturing and welding methods are regularly audited for quality assurance and compliance to ensure your safety. We ensure all Snowy River chassis meet and exceed Australian Standards and Regulations.

STANDARD SUSPENSION

Coupled with this is the state-of-the-art AL-KO Independent Rubber Suspension (IRS). This caravan suspension is a torsion suspension and has been fitted to over 17 million trailers worldwide over the last 20 years. The main beam is formed from hot rolled steel to create the hexagonal tube that is crucial for strength and is the backbone of the axle. Suited to on-road and semi off-road adventures, this sturdy base allows the Snowy River to tour Australia’s vast network of sealed and well-kept dirt roads.

For Snowy fans looking to travel off the beaten track, Snowy River offer the 100% Australian designed and manufactured Tuff Ride Off-Road Trailing Arm Independent Suspension setup in DRS, Airbag Stage 1, or Stage 4 configurations. TORSION SUSPENSION HOW DOES IT WORK?

The AL-KO IRS axle uses simple and effective engineering to provide a smooth, stable, and safe ride when attached to your tow vehicle. Unique to the AL-KO IRS axle is the hexagonal outer axle tube, which houses three rubber elements held in place by a triple-fluted inner tube. Shocks are dampened through compression of these rubber elements via suspension movement between full bump and rebound. The unique self-dampening characteristics of the rubber element slow down the suspension rebound (as shown in the diagram), which ensures a smooth ride over all types of terrain.
